Wander

oldest capitol city. Founded in 1607 by
Spanish explorers this city has been home to the Pueblo peoples
and the Spanish, then belonged to Mexico, and was finally ceded to the United
States in 1846. Originally dubbed 'La Villa Real
de la Santa Fe de San Francisco de Asis' or 'The Royal
City of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis of Assisi' this
name was shortened to Santa Fe (holy faith) after the colonial
period. Present day Santa Fe is renowned for its
unsurpassed ambiance and contemporary
sophistication. The city is home to America's third largest art
market and near limitless
opportunities for shopping, dining and outdoor
adventures. Join our small group tour travel of
New Mexico for the adventure of a lifetime.
Whether you choose to independently explore this city,
or wish to participate in a guided tour, you can choose
from many different sights and options. |

"The
City Different"- explore this unique area on
our New Mexico tours. Unlike most modern cities Santa Fe was developed
using the planning of King Phillip II, whose city
planning principals state that the city should be
built around a central plaza and radiate outwards.
In Santa Fe the Palace of the Governors, the oldest
public building in America, sits to the North and
the main church to the East. From this central
area, around which you will find a multitude of
colorful galleries and restaurants, the city spreads
out. |

Santa Fe
is recognized as one of the most intriguing cities
in the nation, due largely to it's mandated
architecture and it's cultural heritage.
Many adobe-revival style buildings can be seen, as
for example the Museum of Fine Arts pictured here to
the right and well worth a visit both inside and
out. Take a walk outside of the city center
and you will be impressed by the continuity of adobe
style buildings. Even the residential areas
show off many lovely architectural gems. |
