Main Attractions

1-7
Day 1: Meet at our base hotel
in the lobby in San Francisco at 5:00pm
where our tour leader and driver will greet
you. Drive over
Golden Gate bridge, stop for walk at a view
point and have dinner with introductions and
hand out travel documents. 1 night in
San Francisco.

Day 2:
Travel along the
Pacific Ocean
on scenic Highway 1. We explore the beach at
a Marine Preserve and stop at historic
Santa Cruz
boardwalk. At Mission San Juan Bautista we
experience Californian history. 2 nights in
Mariposa.

Day 3:
Exploring the most famous YosemiteNational Park
is a highlight of our journey. We hike among
the biggest and some of the oldest trees of
the world, the Sequoias at Mariposa Grove.
Another walk leads to famous
Yosemite waterfalls. Visit the
visitor center and
NativeAmerican
Museum
that features live art & crafts
demonstrations by Native Americans.

Day 4:
Today we drive over scenic
TiogaPass (elevation: 9943 feet, 3031
meters) crossing the
Sierra Nevada mountain range.Stop for a hike over beautiful
glacial meadows. On the east side of the
Sierras we explore alkaline Mono
Lake
with its interesting Tufa formations. Night
in Bridgeport.

Day 5:
In the morning we discover the history of
Bodie’s Ghost town, the largest of its kind
in
California. A scenic
drive along the Sierra
Nevada
mountain range leads to Bishop, a small town
on route 395 for lunch. Later we have the
opportunity to relax at mineral
hot springs
and travel on to
Tonopah, Nevada where we spend the night.We take an evening walk through a
colorful landscape at Monte Cristo’s
Badlands.

Day 6:
Tonopah is a semi-ghost town that had a huge
mining boom in the 1900. It was called “the
Queen of Silver Camps” and produced millions
of dollars worth of silver in its heydays.
We take a tour in the historic mine park or
you can participate at an optional tour to a
private Turquoise mine. We drive on the
loneliest road in America to a small mining
town Ely where we will stay for the night.

Day 7: Today,
we experience a contrast of landscapes.
Driving up to 9000 feet the desert is
changing to mountain meadows, creeks and
flowers high up in seldom visited Great
Basin National Park. We enjoy a unique cave
tour and a hike to discover the oldest trees
in the world, the bristlecone pines up to
4500 years old. In the afternoon we drive to
Salt Lake City, Utah’s capitol for a 2
nights stay.
