1-7
Day 1: San Francisco. Meet at our
historic base hotel
in the lobby in San Francisco at 4:00pm
where our tour leader and driver will greet
you. Drive over
Golden Gate bridge, stop for walk at a view
point and have dinner with introductions and
hand out travel documents in gorgeous
bayside town Sausalito. 1 night in
San Francisco. We will
gladly help you reserve nights before the
tour, to give you extra time in San
Francisco.

Day 2: San Francisco -
Santa Cruz - Mariposa.
Travel along the
Pacific Ocean
on scenic Highway 1. We explore the beach at
a Marine Preserve, take a hike along the
pacific shore and stop at historic
Santa Cruz
boardwalk, which combines shoreline shopping
with optional rollercoaster rides. At Mission San Juan Bautista we
experience Californian history. Relive
America's farming history at the John
Steinbeck Center. 2 nights in
Mariposa.

Day 3: Mariposa Grove -
Yosemite National Park.
Exploring the most famous YosemiteNational Park
is a highlight of our journey. We hike among
the biggest and some of the oldest trees of
the world, the Sequoias at Mariposa Grove.
Another walk leads to famous
Yosemite waterfalls. Visit the
visitor center and
NativeAmerican
Museum
that features live art & crafts
demonstrations by Native Americans.

Day 4: Yosemite National
Park - Tioga Pass - Mono Lake - Bridgeport. Today we drive over scenic
TiogaPass (elevation: 9943 feet, 3031
meters) crossing the
Sierra Nevada mountain range.Stop for a hike over beautiful
glacial meadows. On the east side of the
Sierras we explore and walk along alkaline Mono
Lake
with its bizarre yet picturesque Tufa formations. Night
in tiny farming community rich with Western
history: Bridgeport.

Day 5: Bridgeport - Bodie
Ghost Town - Lake Tahoe - Virginia City.
In the morning we discover the history of
Bodie’s Ghost town, the largest of its kind
in
California. A scenic
drive along the Sierra
Nevada
mountain range leads to giant and famous Lake
Tahoe, where we stroll along blue water
beaches. Continue to Virginia City, a place
rich with marks of a rough pioneer past,
including mining, trading, and shooting.

Day 6: Virginia City -
Fort Churchill - Lahontan Reservoir - Austin - Ely. Following
the loneliest road in America, Hwy 50, we
reach Fort Churchill, near the Pony Express
and Overland Telegraph route. There is a
visitor center and the nearby Buckland
Station, a Pony Express stop and former
hotel built in 1870 can still be seen. We
arrive at Lahontan reservoir for a picnic and
optional swim in
this oasis amidst the desert. Next stop is in
half-deserted town Austin for a refreshing
drink in the heat, then drive on to Ely for
the night.

Day 7: Great Basin
National Park - Salt Lake City. Today,
we traverse -by comfortable van- from a
low-lying desert valley to over 9,000 feet
(2740m) , where lush flowering meadows greet
us in quiet Great Basin National Park.
Explore a wondrous stalactite cave, and then
take a longer hike to discover the oldest trees
in the world, the bristlecone pines up to
4500 years old. In the afternoon we drive to
Salt Lake City, Utah’s capitol for a 2
nights stay.
