of the Wild West Yellowstone, Days
8 - 14
Day 8: Salt Lake City - Temple Square -
Utah Capitol - Antelope Island.
Today, we visit the
impressive Mormon Temple Square, central hub
for Mormonism. We will hear the world famous
Tabernacle Choir, and visit Utah's capitol
building. The afternoon
and evening we spend on AntelopeIsland
on the Great Salt Lake,
a wonderful place for viewing wildlife
including buffalo and waterfowl. Take a swim
in waters much saltier than ocean water, and
hike up to fantastic viewpoints over the
largest salt lake in the western hemisphere,
at 1,700 sq. miles.

Day 9: Olympic Park -
Fossil Butte National Monument - City of
Alpine.
Leaving Salt Lake City we stop at the 2002
Winter Olympics park featuring the Alf Engem
Ski Museum. Superb outlet mall shopping is
nearby. Then we drive to
FossilButte
National Monument
and explore the unique fossil displays and
landscape. We enjoy a peaceful picnic
with BBQ and an hours' hike through
pronghorn antelope territory. Night in Alpine,
Wyoming, close to
winding Snake River and the city of Jackson.

Day 10: Jackson - Grand
Teton National Park - Yellowstone National
Park.
Explore at your own pace the wild west town of Jackson with its many
galleries and cowboy stores. Optional activities include
a scenic river float trip or white water
rafting on beautiful Snake River. In the
afternoon we walk along Jenny
Lake
with breathtaking views of the Grand Tetons,
which includes a short boat ride.
Drive to YellowstoneNational Park. 3 nights in the rustic town of West
Yellowstone, Montana.

Day 11: Yellowstone N.P.Today
we explore the most active colorful mineral
hot pool areas at Norris Geyser Basin. We
stop for picnic at fascinating basalt cliffs
and then on to world famous Mammoth Hot
Springs with its unique travertine
terrace formations and the historic Fort
Yellowstone.
In the afternoon we walk by the tower falls and drive
over
DunravenPass through scenic wildlife areas.
Expect to spot wild buffalo, elk, prairie
dogs, and sometimes bears, moose, and
porcupines.

Day 12: Yellowstone N.P.
This day's highlights include: travel to
viewpoints of
Yellowstone's own chasm, the
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, hike along the
canyon rim, with impressive views of nearby
Lower & Upper Falls near colorful, sulfur
stained cliffs. Next, experience famous Old
Faithful lodge and geyser on foot, walking
along thermal pools, boiling streams,
roaring gas vents, and splendidly-colored
algal mats.

Day 13: Yellowstone N.P - Cody - Buffalo
Bill Historical Center.
First we drive along YellowstoneLake and stop at
the thermal area of West Thumb.
Onward
the road winds over a scenic pass, we stop for lunch at
Buffalo Bill's hunting lodge, with optional
horse ride into the rugged outback.
On to Cody, home of Buffalo Bill,
we visit BuffaloBillHistoricalCenter, with a colossal
display of Native American artifacts and
Wild West artwork with descriptions of the surrounding
natural history. Realize the settlement of
Western America, and the
interesting natural wonders present here.
Good-bye dinner at a historic restaurant.

Day 14: Continue
travel on your own, or journey home.
