Day 2: Valley of Fire SP – St. George – Panguitch/Bryce Canyon

Drive to Bryce Canyon National Park. On the way, go for a hike through dramatic Valley of Fire State Park with its petroglyphs and sculpted sandstone cliffs. Continue on to visit the temple of St. George and the nearby Outlet stores. Scenic drive high up onto the Colorado plateau arriving at comfortable cabins near Bryce Canyon. Two nights near Bryce Canyon.

Day 3: Bryce Canyon National Park

Explore Bryce Canyon, one of the most beautiful national parks of the West. Stop at the visitor center with interactive displays, then drive and walk along the scenic rim trails. For the more adventurous, hike down into Bryce’s deep canyons and explore the hoodoos and myriad rock formations. Optional horseback rides into canyon.

Day 4: All-American-Highway 12 – Kodachrome Basin SP – Escalante Petrified Forest SP – Torrey

Drive on scenic Highway 12, one of the few designated All-American Highways. Stop for walk in photogenic Kodachrome Basin State Park. At Escalante Petrified Forest State Park discover colorful fossilized tree trunks. Night in Torrey, gateway to Capitol Reef National Park.

Day 5: Capitol Reef National Park – Goblin Valley State Park – Moab

Weather permitting, explore Capitol Reef National Park on a hike through a gigantic slot canyon . Discover Goblin Valley State Park on an hour’s walk among goblin-like rock formations. Stop at less-frequented Sego Canyon to view petroglyphs and pictographs. Drive to Moab, a lively western town and gateway to both Arches and Canyonlands National Park. 2 nights in downtown Moab.

Day 6: Moab – Arches National Park

Spend the morning in Moab, a city of art galleries, optional whitewater adventures, mineral and rock shops, restaurants and more. Today’s highlight is exploring Arches National Park, including a hike to the famous Delicate Arch. Optional dinner entertainment available at an authentic Chuck Wagon event.

Day 7: Canyonlands National Park – Dead Horse Point State Park – Durango

A day of amazing views. Morning walk in Canyonlands National Park to breathtaking overlooks, including Mesa Arch. Visit Dead Horse Point State Park overlooking the Colorado River Plateau, where the Green and Colorado Rivers meet. On to the Wild West town of Durango, Colorado, where we stay for 2 nights. Enjoy the evening strolling through historic downtown with its many galleries, shops and good restaurants.

Day 8: Durango – Silverton

Main attractions are the historic towns of Durango and Silverton. An optional ride on the historic Durango & Silverton narrow gauge steam railway is highly recommended. This railroad has been in operation for 128 years and was used in 1882 to transport silver and gold from the San Juan mountains. Another night in Durango.

Day 9: Mesa Verde National Park – 4-Corners Monument – Bluff

Climb into the ancient dwellings of Native Americans at Mesa Verde National Park on a ranger-led tour. Stop at the Four-Corners-Monument for pictures, economically priced Native American art, and fry bread. Evening and night in pioneer town of Blanding or Monticello, Utah.
